Preparations under Way !
With less than a month until our mission departs, we are in the midst of preparations. Supplies have been ordered, donated, packed, and shipped. Please pray for the safe delivery of our needed supplies! A special thanks to Patterson Dental and Adec for their generous donations, all of the team members / family members who have contributed, and to Ken Reis (Julie Barbier's dad) for the use of his office space for storage of our supplies prior to shipment.
Donations !
Dr. Joni Richmond's mom teaches 2nd grade at Tilford Elementary School in Vinton, IA. This is a photo of four students from her class with the donation box that their art teacher had them decorate for their "Shoes for Africa" Project. She sent the donation request out to all of the classes there and received many wonderful shoes. They were even featured in the local newspaper!
Preparation
Preparations are underway for our 2010 dental mission to Kampala, Uganda. This year our mission will leave for Uganda on Thursday, January 21st and will return on Saturday, February 6th. We will have many returning "veterans" on our team and will be joined by a few "rookies". Returning "vets" are : Dr. John Sexton, Dr. Paul Musherure, Dr. Sally Schuette, Dr. Joni Richmond, Dr. Patrick McGann, Lisa McCloud, Julie Barbier, Shelly Hoeykens, Cherimoya Wright, Mayra Almeida, Jodi Kyrk, John Walker, Randy McCloud, Mackenzie McCloud, Amanda Barbier, Bob Witt, James McMenimen, and Larry McMenimen. New to our team this year will be: Dan Isbell (Joni Richmond's stepfather), and Tina Wallace who will both help us with our children's program; James McGann (Patrick's father) and Terry Syverson who will join our Tech team (Terry will also be staff photographer);Pam Syverson (Terry's wife) who will help us with registration; Judy Prowse who will be the nurse on our team; and Adam Stutts and Justin Stevens who are both dental students from the University of Colorado - Denver Dental School. We all look forward to a great trip and are anxious to start planning.
